This article describes the steps to setting up our International Shipping features for orders shipping outside the United States. The International Shipping feature must be enabled by a member of the Offset staff before you can start your setup. Please reach out to [email protected] for assistance enabling International Shipping and International Billing settings.
IMPORTANT: Offset does not collect taxes or tariffs during checkout for International Shipping orders.
Configure Your International Shipping Method
Go to the Settings > International Shipping tab to get started.
Method Title
This is the name of the Shipping Method that appears when an international country is selected during checkout.
Shipping description
A Shipping Description appears to the customer during checkout and can be used to inform customers of the process for an order’s departure. In this case, if the customer is choosing International, you may want to remind them that it takes 2-3 days (or whatever time frame that may be) for an order to depart from your fulfillment company.
Default flat rate price
This is a global default flat rate price that you can use as a consistent set price or benchmark for the entire order regardless of bottle quantity, weight, or package quantity. We recommend this option if you don't have established prices worked out for the enabled Countries, but you want to make sure and capture some funds at the time of the sale. If you want to set up individual rates per country, please continue on for the next steps.
IMPORTANT: If you want to set the default flat per Country, then leave this setting blank and enter it in the individual Country settings.
Method code
Setting this code, as with all shipping methods, would ensure that your fulfillment house or compliance would ship using an established method. *Make sure and select "Save All Changes" to save your work.
Setting the International Shipping Defaults
Set the Countries Where You Want to Ship
Permission to Ship
Under the International Shipping Header, you can enable the setting next to the COUNTRY where you want to ship by toggling the PERMISSION TO SHIP settings on or off. This will allow customers to select the specific country during checkout.

You can to use the Default Flat Rate or Custom rate grids per country by toggling the USE Rates setting on or off. If you will be relying on the global Default flat rate price, you can leave the setting here as the Default Flat Rate. If you want to enable rates per country, you can set the toggle to Custom and move on to the next step to set your individual or per-bottle rates by country.
Toggle your Permissions and/or Use Rates on or off
Set Up your Shipping Method (Per Country)
Select the Edit button to open your Country level settings. You must repeat this process for each country if you are not using global flat rates.
Method Name
This name overrides the default method title and allows you to customize the name of the method available in the specific country.

If the Default rate price is blank, when Custom is enabled, the setting will default to Per Bottle or you can toggle the setting to the right to enable Flat Rate. If you are be using the Flat Rate, then add your custom flat rate price.
NOTE: Flat Rate pricing is "per order" not "per package." If you will be charging by the bottle or another individual unit price, then change the toggle to Per Bottle and set the bottle rates.
Flat Rate
Entering the price here will customize the Default Flat Rate price per country. This option will be disabled if you are elected to use the Global Flat Rates.
Method code
This is the internal code used by your fulfillment company of choice so that the shipping methods from your Offset account and their internal systems match up. Speak with your fulfillment company to make sure you have the settings matched up correctly with the shipping method they use for the particular country. For example, you may use UPS Worldwide Express when shipping to Japan, but they may use FedEx International Priority when shipping to Germany. Match up the Shipping Method you are creating to the appropriate Method Code your fulfillment company uses for the specific County.
Edit Your Per Bottle Rate Tables (Per Country)
If you are not using flat rates, you can set the price per bottle for the desired country. This option is suitable for Countries where you ship a high volume of orders and you are charged by the carrier per bottle.
IMPORTANT: Before you start populating the shipping rate grids, go to Settings > Fulfillment Methods & Rates page and enable all the bottle sizes you will ship in the Bottle Sizes, Cubing, & California Redemption Value (CRV) section.
Enter Your Per Bottle Prices
Select Edit next to the individual Country and scroll down to the rate tables. Set the price for each bottle quantity in USD using whole numbers and no symbols, only decimals in the tables for every bottle size. For example, 40.00 or 50.60. Make sure to frequently select Save Changes.
Entering Per Bottle Shipping Rates for International Shipping
NOTE: You will need to refer to the rates provided by a shipping carrier or fulfillment company to populate each cell of the grid. However, be sure the rates they provide take into account not only the base shipping rates but also the current/fluctuating fuel surcharges, current Adult Signature Required fees, international handling fees, costs for shipping materials (boxes/foam), etc. If the rates you receive from the carriers or fulfillment companies only present the base rate, then you will need to run some calculations to cover those additional costs.
